Martha did not stop at Alvarez's shoulder. She tried to lean around him toward the vestibule feed, one hand lifted as if a raised palm could still command the woman on the other side of the camera. "Do not answer another question until family counsel is present." The witness recoiled so sharply that the picture blurred. Olivia stepped between Martha and the panel. "No. She is not your held document." Richard's voice cut through the room, rough and stunned. "Answer the custodian question, Mother. Who holds the recorded witness?" Martha turned on him. "You want to dishonor your wife's family history in front of strangers?" Richard flinched. For one dangerous second, Isabella thought grief would do what evidence had not.
