📖 Blood Roses: Revenge of Catalina
Alessandro’s Panic
Alessandro paced the polished floors of his office like a caged predator, each step heavy with tension. The room smelled faintly of expensive cologne and paper, but to him, it was suffocating. He stopped abruptly near the window, fists clenching, staring out at the Falcone estate in the distance.
“She’s just playing dress-up, Jasper,” he muttered, though his voice lacked conviction. “It’s all… it’s all a game. Nothing more.”
Jasper, standing silently beside the mahogany desk, studied him with a mix of caution and concern. “A game?” he repeated, his tone measured. “Alessandro… she’s not pretending anymore. She’s—”
“She’s nothing,” Alessandro snapped, spinning to face him. His eyes, dark with desperation, betrayed what his words could not: panic. “Do you understand? I built everything around her, Jasper. I gave her… everything! And now—”
He cut himself off, the anger in his chest morphing into something more fragile, more dangerous. His voice lowered, almost a hiss: “She’s rewriting the rules, and I don’t know the next move.”
Jasper shifted uncomfortably, sensing the storm behind Alessandro’s calm façade was breaking. “We can contain this… strategically,” he said carefully, trying to anchor the unraveling man before him.
Alessandro’s laugh, sharp and hollow, echoed through the office. “Contain her? Contain Catalina? She’s the chaos I never accounted for. Every step, every glance… it’s a challenge to everything I built. Do you think a game of power can withstand someone who doesn’t play by the rules?”
He sank into the leather chair, gripping the armrests until his knuckles turned white. His mind raced with images of the deep navy gown, the controlled poise, the way she had commanded every eye in the Falcone ballroom. Each memory was a stab, a reminder that the woman he once thought fragile now held the upper hand.
Alessandro had underestimated her. And now, panic, cold and relentless, seeped into his bones. The predator had become the hunted—and he hated the truth he couldn’t silence.
“Prepare everything,” he whispered finally, voice tight with fury and fear. “No mistakes. She cannot win. She will not win.”
Jasper nodded silently, already planning the next moves, but inside, even he knew: the game had changed forever.
